The Trailer for ‘Sye Raa’ presents Chiranjeevi’s ferocious Narasimha Reddy as a warrior-Yogi who leads a fearsome civilian rebellion against evil colonialists. It’s essentially an extension of the recently-released Teaser in the sense that you see a lot of fiery, patriotism-filled, loudness-laced shots.
Director Surender Reddy wants us to wait till October 2 for punchlines, content as he is with projecting the protagonist’s single-minded focus on liberating his people, prodded by his guru (Amitabh Bachchan) and assisted by comrades from neighbouring provinces (Sudeep and Vijay Sethpathi).
Set in 1850s, the period drama also has a love story (involving the lead man, Nayanthara and Tamannaah).
Ruthless behaviour and mass killings, that ‘Why should we pay you taxes?’ moment, etc all remind us of timeless hits like ‘Alluri Seetharamaraju’. The racy footsoldiers remind us of the battle scenes from ‘Baahubali-The Beginning’.
Writers Paruchuri Gopalakrishna and Sai Madhav Burra are expected to deliver big punches. Rathnavelu’s cinematography, Kamalkannan’s VFX, Rajeevan’s production design is rich.
Also starring Jagapathi Babu, Niharika and Brahmaji, the film has been produced by Ram Charan under Konidela Production Company. Music is by Amit Trivedi.
The period drama will hit the screens on October 2 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
