While HBO had revealed that the Game of Thrones spinoff Blood Moon that was planned with Naomi Watts has been dropped, here's some great news for GoT fans as HBO has announced a new prequel series which will be based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire and Blood” novel.
Titled “House of the Dragon” this prequel will begin with a 10-episode season which will have “Game of Thrones” director Miguel Sapochnik directing the pilot episodes and additional episodes and will be the co-showrunner with Ryan Condal. Martin and Vince Gerardis will serve as executive producers.
“House of the Dragon” will revolve around the formation of House Targaryen, a family which produced the mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. However Emilia Clarke won't be in this prequel as it is set 300 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.”As said by Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming, the team is looking forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the initial days of Westeros.
