Suriya thanks supporters for standing by him over ‘Jai Bhim’

‘Jai Bhim’, which has been streaming on Amazon Prime Video, has been targeted by online trolls as well as political activists. PMK (a political party in Tamil Nadu) and the Vanniyar Sangam (a caste organization) have objected to certain scenes in the movie, both of which have claimed that it has hurt the sentiments of a particular community. Social media has extended full support by trending the hashtag #WeStandWithSuriya worldwide.

Expressing gratitude for all the solidarity, actor Suriya today thanked his supporters. “Dear all, this love for #Jaibhim is overwhelming. I’ve never witnessed this before! Can’t express in words how thankful I am for the trust & reassurance you all have given us. Heartfelt thanks for standing by us,” the versatile actor tweeted.

He also thanked Shailaja Teacher, the former Kerala Health Minister, for appreciating ‘Jai Bhim’. “#JaiBhim is an inspiration for transformative change. Authentic portrayal of hard-hitting realities on systemic violence & social discrimination in society. Brilliant performances. Congrats to the entire team! (sic),” she tweeted the other day. Thanking the CPM leader, Suriya wrote, “Truly overwhelmed to receive this feedback from you Ma’am. Lot of respect for what you do. Many thanks to you on behalf of our #JaiBhim team.”
