Pa Ranjith is among the leading directors in the film industry who is commercially successful and critically acclaimed as well. After delivering the blockbuster hit Sarpatta Parambarai, Ranjith is back to amaze his fans with Natchathiram Nagargirathu, which is slated to be released on August 31.
The filmmaker is currently busy with the promotional work of the film and is often spotted in media interviews. In a recent interaction with Thanthi TV, Ranjith opened up about his magnum opus project with Suriya which never took off. While it was believed that Ranjith and Suriya’s project was supposed to be Sarpatta Parambarai, the former made it with Arya in the lead role.
It was learned from the recent interview that Pa Ranjith was planning to direct a magnum opus film titled ‘German’ with Suriya. When asked about the revival of ‘German’, the director said, “That is my dream film. Mad Max Fury, Bladerunner and Dune are my favourite films actually. While I do socio-politics films inspired by Spike Lee, German falls under an entirely different category – a film based on my fantasy and imaginary world.”
“Though Birdman is a movie that was handled psychologically, films like Birdman, Mad Max Fury, and Dune debate real-life politics but were set in an imaginary world. I am really eager to make those kinds of films. German is one such film. I will definitely explore German in the future. German is about an unconditional world with a war set in it. I think it will intrigue the audience. Moreover, it is a project filled with VFX,” added Pa Ranjith.
