Suriya’s film hit the big screen after a huge success on OTT – Fans grand celebration

Usually, a film hits the OTT platform after its theatrical run. On the other hand, the movies that are directly released on the streaming platform don’t get a chance to be screened on the big screens. But now, a Suriya movie has been released on the big screen after having a successful stint on Amazon Prime Video.

Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru is an inspirational drama film that was released digitally through Amazon Prime Video on 12 November 2020, coinciding with the eve of the Diwali festival. The film was partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder GR Gopinath. Soorarai Pottru received acclaim from critics and also was loved by the audience.

Now, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is currently being screened in only one theatre in Madurai with special permission, making it a huge treat for Suriya fans. Fans flocked to the Madurai Theater to see the film as it was a special screening. The talented actor’s fans celebrated the special screening as grand as an actual theatrical release of their idol Suriya.

According to reports from Madurai, the fans were whistling and enjoying the movie and enjoyed the moment when Suriya appeared on the screen. Surya fans are demanding that Soorarai Pottru should be released in other cities as well. The acclaimed film was selected as one among ten Indian films to be screened under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.
