Superstar Rajnikanth had two releases last year - the Pa Ranjith directorial Kaala and the sci-fi thriller 2.0 directed by Shankar. 2.0 was the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Endhiran and had Superstar returning on screens as scientist Vaseegaran and the Robot Chitti.

2.0 also had a surprise in the form of 3.0 as well, as there were numerous microbot avatars of Superstar Rajnikanth, and the movie which had music by AR Rahman also starred Akshay Kumar, who had made his debut in Kollywood playing the villain, and Amy Jackson was the female lead.

After its blockbuster run worldwide, now the movie is gearing up for a grand release in China, and it has now been made official that 2.0 will release in more than 10000 screens in China on July 12. While it was said that 2.0 had already grossed more than 750 crores worldwide, it is to be seen if the movie can surpass the 1000 crores mark with China release.
