In his interview to a national daily, Sukumar has suggested that he now enjoys writing and producing films more than directing. He also added that, of late, he realized that his assistants are more adept at directing his stories.
The maverick director, who is known to work tirelessly for hours on end (as per NTR, he hardly slept for 2-3 hours a day during the shooting of Nannaku Prematho), actually says he is "restless by nature". Saying that he constantly improvises the script on the sets, he added that he doesn't "stick to a bound script". (In fact, it has for long been held that Sukumar tries 2-3 versions of a scene on the sets. NTR, though, held in an interview that Sukumar comes with great clarity).
"It causes a lot of stress and as a result I am not spending any time with my family," he said in the interview.
He indicated that the failure of 1:Nenokkadine did affect him because the bombing of a film after so much of effort can make one feel bad. However, Sukumar is someone who enjoys the journey more than the destination, in his own words.
