37-year-old director Shanavas was admitted to the KG hospital in Coimbatore on December 19th after suffering a cardiogenic shock while working on his new movie. The condition is a serious one in which the heart fails to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs.
Malayalam media reported that Shanavas passed away today and his fans started paying tributes on social media. However Vijay Babu the producer of ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ has denied the news.
Vijay Babu on his facebook page has written “Shanavas is still on ventilator support . His heart is still beating …. request all to pls pray for him .We still hoping for a miracle .

Naranipuzha Shanavas is the first Mollywood director to have released his movie directly on an OTT platform. The editor turned director’s debut movie ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’, had a direct release on Amazon prime video platform owing to the pandemic and lockdown. The film starring Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari was critically acclaimed.
