DMK’s working president M.K. Stalin has threatened to organize ‘jail-filling’ protest by party cadres if the Cauvery Management Board is not set up by the Centre within the stipulated date (29th March).
Stalin was delivering the valedictory address at the party’s 2-day zonal conference held at Erode at the ‘Thanthai Periyar’ Thidal. The conference had earlier passed as many as 50 resolutions covering various issues.
“The Centre hasn’t yet responded to the resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly calling for immediate setting up of a Cauvery Management Board; setting up a supervisory committee/council in this regard would only be an ‘eye-wash’ act by the Centre.
“We shall organize a ‘jail-bharo’ (filling up prisons) protest till the Centre relents and sets up the Cauvery Management Board,” he said and added that the party cadres would also be visiting New Delhi in huge numbers to stage protests at the national capital in this regard.
