The Telangana government has officially finalized the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards procedures. A government order (G.O. MS No. 25 I&PR) dated March 11, 2025, has been issued to establish the awards, marking a significant recognition for the film industry.
As part of this initiative, special awards will be given in honor of legendary figures Paidi Jayaraj and Kantha Rao, who made invaluable contributions to Telangana cinema. The existing award named after M. Prabhakar Reddy for popular films will continue. Notably, since the previous government did not present any film awards between 2014 and 2023, the new administration has honored the best films from each of those years retroactively.
Applications for the Gaddar Film Awards will be available at the Telangana Film Industry Development Corporation office starting March 13, 2025.
The awards will be presented in various categories, including:
– Feature Films
– Film on National Integration
– Children’s Film
– Film on Environment, Heritage, or History
– Debut Feature Films
– Animation Films
– Social Impact Films
– Documentary Films
– Short Films
Apart from these, additional categories include:
– Books or Analytical Articles on Telugu Cinema
– Individual Awards for Artists and Technicians
