SS Rajamouli Explores New Terrain with Mahesh Babu in ‘GlobeTrotter’

A lot has already been written and speculated about SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film “GlobeTrotter,” starring Mahesh Babu in the lead. With the unveiling of the film’s theme poster and first song yesterday, audiences are finally getting a clearer glimpse into the cinematic world Rajamouli is building this time.

The visuals suggest that GlobeTrotter draws inspiration from the adventure novels of Wilbur Smith, especially those set in Africa. The poster – showcasing Mahesh Babu standing tall against a sweeping sunset over the Kenyan National Forest – hints at a grand, globe-spanning narrative that moves beyond borders and landscapes.

Described as an adventure thriller of epic proportions, GlobeTrotter appears to follow a man’s journey across contrasting terrains — from dense African jungles to bustling international cities — making it a true “globetrotting” cinematic experience. The film’s visual palette, marked by earthy tones and wildlife-inspired imagery, evokes memories of Hollywood adventure classics like The Ghost and the Darkness, Out of Africa, and The Lion King.

Known for his unmatched world-building and emotional depth, Rajamouli seems to be exploring an entirely new territory with this project. Unlike his mythological and historical blockbusters Baahubali and RRR, GlobeTrotter seems to blend survival drama with raw human emotion, set against a visually spectacular global backdrop.

The film’s theme song, composed by MM Keeravani, has already struck a chord with fans. The sweeping orchestration captures the spirit of exploration and freedom, while Shruti Haasan’s haunting vocals add an emotional texture to the visuals.

Produced by KL Narayana under Durga Arts, GlobeTrotter marks the first-ever collaboration between Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli, with Priyanka Chopra playing the female lead.

With its ambitious scale, global setting, and powerhouse team, GlobeTrotter is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most awaited adventures yet.
