Actor and politician Kamal Haasan has thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had earlier yesterday written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to confer the prestigious Bharat Ratna award upon singer SP Balasubrahmanyam.

Kamal Haasan tweeted “Thank you Honourable CM of Andhra Pradesh. @AndhraPradeshCM. The honour you seek for our brother Shri.S.P.Balasubramaniam is a sentiment which true fans of his voice will echo, not only in Tamilnadu but throughout the whole nation.”

Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy had mentioned that the centre must consider SP Balasubrahmanyam's achievements in the field of music. In his letter, the CM urged the centre to pay tribute to the legendary singer for his outstanding contribution in the field of music and art, and confer Bharat Ratna award upon him, adding that it'll be the highest recognition for his remarkable work which lasted 5 decades and stays in our memory forever. It must be noted that SPB received this Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
