South Indian cine-lovers should not lose patience

The back-to-back nation-wide success of ‘Roudram Ranam Rudhiram’ and ‘KGF 2’ in less than a month has made sections of South Indian movie-lovers quite impatient for tasting more and more similar eploits. The way they are behaving across social media platforms, one would think that making pan-Indian movies is a walk in the park.

Most impatient cine-goers are saying that Pawan Kalyan, Chiranjeevi, Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, among others, should start doing pan-Indian movies. Do you notice that nobody ever asks which directors are capable of churning out pan-Indian movies to quench the thirst? No. It’s because lay people seem to believe that movies are more a function of non-creative aspects. That’s so wrong.

So far, only Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel and Sukumar have proved themselves on the pan-Indian scale. Three hits, two hits, and one hit, respectively. Puri Jagannadh is yet to prove himself. If he cracks the game, Vijay Deverakonda will join the league of pan-India stars. That would still leave a lot of South Indian actors confined to regional cinema.

Regional actors will find redemption only if more and more directors can do what Rajamouli, Neel and Sukumar have achieved. It is not a walk in the park. Shankar has got that potential. Sandeep Reddy Vanga possesses that potential. Nag Ashwin has got that potential. The audience, meanwhile, needs to be patient. The pan-Indian movie phenomenon is just taking off.
