South African pacer and Delhi Capitals player Andre Nortje tested positive for Covid-19, apparently while undergoing quarantine. The bowler is the second player from Delhi Capitals to test positive for the virus as Axar Patel was previously diagnosed with the infection.
Nortje is currently asymptomatic and isolating, while a further test is awaited on Wednesday. A news agency quoted a source as saying, “He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine.” According to the BCCI SOP, a player/support staff, who tests positive for COVID-19, must isolate in the designated area outside the bio-secure environment for a minimum of 10 days from the first day of symptoms or the date of collection of the sample which resulted in a positive RT-PCR report, whichever is earlier.
Nortje had tested negative for Covid-19 upon his arrival at India and is believed to have caught the virus while he was quarantining. Delhi Capitals will next be taking on Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium.
