Tamil cinema right from the times of MGR and Sivaji has been driven by the rivalry of the two reigning stars of the different eras. If it was Rajini and Kamal for the eighties and nineties kids the new millenium has revelled in the Ajith-Vijay onscreen rivalry.

In the current generation though there are many contenders two actors who have stood out by their on screen as well as offscreen stardom are without any doubt Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi. Their rise in stardom has been exactly in the same period and naturally they are seen as the next big rivals of Kollywood. The duo ofcourse have maintained a healthy relationship personally and admire each others works.

Now the hot buzz in Kollywood is that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play a powerful role in Sivakarthikeyan's new movie 'Maaveeran' directed by Madonne Ashwin of 'Mandela' fame. Sources say that things are almost finalised and the official announcment is expected very soon as the shooting of the film is to commence from the first week of August.

'Maaveeran' is produced by Arun Viswa under the banner Shanti Talkies with Vidhu Ayyanna behind the camera, Bharath Sankar scoring the music and Philomin Raj taking care of the editing. Mysskin and Goundamani are said to be in the cast while the hunt for the leading lady is on.
