SS Rajamouli's most successful film RRR, which went on to become the third highest-grossing film ever made in India by earning ₹902 crores in India and Rs. 1111 crores worldwide now hopes to make a mark at the Academy Awards.
After being rejected as India's official entry for Oscar RR has launched a campaign to file nominations in 14 categories as part of their "For your consideration (FYC)" campaign. Team RRR's Oscar campaign was formally introduced last Friday with a massive screening at the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
In a recent interview, Shriya Saran spoke about working with SS Rajamouli and the RRR experience. She also shared her thoughts on the film getting Oscar buzz. When asked if awards don’t matter, Shriya said, “At the end of the day, it is the emotions and the experience,” and shared, “Like I remember Rajamouli sir had an asthma attack before we were to start shooting the whole film, and there was so much dust and all on the sets, but it didn't matter. It just didn't matter to him. For him, what matters is the stories being told and they are explained well. And I find it extremely beautiful.”
The epic drama has received overwhelming praise both in India and abroad. It was loved especially in the US, where notable actors and directors have flocked to their local theatres to see the movie. The film also had Alia Bhatt, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Ajay Devgan in lead roles.
