Google Doodle celebrates the Father of Montage

Be it either the famous Hollywood ‘Rocky’ montage with Sylvester Stallone, or the latest Tamil film ‘Arvui’, montages in films not only serve as a quick recollection of events but also sometimes propels the story forward as well. Thus montages have been an inevitable tool for editors in the world.

Well credit goes to Sergei Eisenstein of Russia who developed this unique method of arranging frames and shots in a quick succession to come up with the ‘montage’. And guess what, today is a special day as it marks the 120th anniversary of Eisenstein who is referred to as the Father of the Montage.

And if you hadn’t already googled something today, do it now. Folks at Google have come up with a monochrome doodle as a celebratory symbol on his 120th birth anniversary.  The Google Doodle has stated in their website that Sergei was a revolutionary as his works usually depicted the struggle of the downtrodden workers against the ruling class.

Eisenstein was also a film theorist and a socially relevant filmmaker who passed way at the age of 50 due to a heart attack in 1948.
