Director Selvaraghavan had made a return to films with his May 31 release NGK, starring Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, and the movie has opened to good reviews from critics. NGK is produced by Dream Warrior pictures and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Selvaraghavan had his last release with Irandaam Ulagam, and his next movie Nenjam Marappathillai starring SJ Suryah, Regina Cassandra and Nandita Swetha has been completed and its release has been indefinitely delayed, while another movie Mannavan Vanthanadi starring Santhanam has been stopped half way. It is in this situation that the director's NGK released finally.
