Director Samuthirakani’s new movie with a superstar and his nephew goes on floors

Samuthirakani is one of the most sought after character actors in Tamil cinema and his market is also at its peak in Tollywood where he plays mostly negative roles.  His performances are so memorable that it makes fans forget that Kani is first and foremost a writer and director.

Samuthirakani has directed memorable films namely ‘Nadodigal’, ‘Porali’,  ‘Nimirnthu Nil’ and ‘Appa’.  After a long gap in 2021 his comeback film behind the camera ‘Vinodhaya Sitham’ was released on OTT directly due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The film that starred Thambi Ramaiah and Samuthirakani himself garnered highly positive reviews and fans called it Samuthirakani’s best work. 

It was already announced that Samuthirakani is remaking ‘Vinodhaya Sitham’ in Telugu and the film went on floors today.  The remake has Power Star Pawan Kalyan as the divine being played by Samuthirakani in the original while Sai Dharam Tej plays a rewritten younger character portrayed by Thambi Ramaiah.

Sai Dharam Tej is the nephew of Pawan Kalyan and he has this to say about teaming up with his uncle on screen “‘THE BEST DAY’ I would cherish forever. It’s a dream come true to work with my Guru for life Pawan Kalyan.  Grateful at this amazing opportunity & Can’t wait for a big chunk of learning and memories.”
