Samantha is all set to enchant her fans again with ‘Shaakuntalam’. The much-awaited mythological drama is written and directed by Gunasekhar while Neelima Guna produced the movie under Gunaa Teamworks with distribution by Sri Venkateswara Creations.
The film was initially planned to be released in November 2022 and was postponed to February 2023 owing to technical works. Recently, it faced a delay again and the makers officially announced the new release date today. Shaakuntalam will hit the silver screens worldwide on 14 April 2023 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
The team launched a new poster with the new release date and captioned it, “The Love that was forgotten… An unforgettable tale of Love that remains #Shaakuntalam in theatres worldwide on April 14” (sic). The film’s story revolves around the epic love story between Shakuntala (Samantha) and King Dushyant (Dev Mohan) from Mahabharata.
Allu Arha, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr.M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Jisshu Sengupta and others play vital roles in Shaakuntalam. The technical team includes Mani Sharma as the music composer, Shekar V Joseph as the DOP and Prawin Pudi as the editor.
