The 2008 Telugu-language comedy ‘Vinayakudu’, helmed by Sai Kiran Adivi and starring Krishnudu as the male lead, will now be remade in Bollywood. The film, which went on to receive critical acclaim for its depiction of the love affair between an obese guy and his girlfriend, will be remade in Hindi with a comedian.
As per media reports, the Bollywood comedian will be seen debuting as a male lead with this remake. When Sai Kiran Adivi recently pitched the project to him, he watched the Telugu original and loved it.
Plans are already afoot to bring the project to fruition. Adivi, who has since made films like ‘Kerintha’, will be debuting in Hindi with this promising remake.
The original starred Sonia of ‘Happy Days’ fame and Poonam Kaur in important roles. Its Tamil remake was a hit. ‘Village Lo Vinayakudu’, its sequel, was released in 2009.
