Pihu’, the soon-to-be-released Hindi-language film, is in the news for a wrong reason. Some Twitter users have accused the marketing team of the film for resorting to the wrong kind of promotions. The film is about how a two-year-old kid lives on her own when her mother dies. There is nobody at home and the kid puts herself in danger by doing certain things out of ignorance.
To promote this movie, the marketing campaigners have come up with an outrageous idea. They are making prank calls to random folks out there. For example, columnist Sudhir Srinivasan says, “I got a call from an anonymous number. A baby wailed about her mother and dad, and hung up. Disturbed, I tried calling back in vain. Then, I got a message with a link to help the child. A link, as it turns out, of Pihu’s trailer. A horrible idea, a disgusting invasion of privacy,” he writes, saying that “it takes special insensitivity to make unsolicited calls and play recordings of traumatized children to promote a film.”
Bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur, ‘Pihu’ has been directed by Vinod Kapri. It will hit the screens on November 16.
