In a highly controversial and high-handed move, the Kerala police have arrested as many as 1400 people across the state for participating in “violent protests” against the entry of women into the famous Sabarimala temple a few days ago.
As per reports, over 440 cases have been filed against the protestors. In addition, lookout circulars have been issued to trace 210 persons. About 150 of them have been identified in the last 24 hours.
Some of the arrested innocent people are women. They have been accused of crimes like rioting, destruction of public property, assaulting people and obstructing public servants from discharging their duty.
The BJP has said that it will move the court over the massive crackdown. ”This is the true face of Communism,” some critics are saying.
