Legendary music director and filmmaker S.V. Ramanan passed away early this morning (September 26th) following age related ailments. He is survived by his wife Bama and daughters Lakshmi and Saraswathi. Youth icon Anirudh Ravichander and actor Hrishikesh are his grandsons.
S.V. Ramanan was the son of legendary film producer K. Subramanyam one of the pioneers of Tamil cinema. He started his career as a Radio and Television advertiser when both the technologies were budding. He was the voice behind several top brands of the seventies and nineties.
Ramanan has composed music for few films including ‘Manyam’ released in 2018 and hundreds of stage shows and plays. His milestone in Tamil cinema was as a writer,producer,director and music composer for ‘Uruvangal Maaralam’ released in 1983. The film starred Y. Gee Mahendra and Suhasini Mani Ratnam in the lead while legends Sivaji Ganesan, Jai Shankar, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan made special appearances as gods. Tributes are pouring in from celebrities and fans alike for S.V. Ramanan one of the achievers of Tamil cinema.
