Imagine the plight of someone who doesn’t get to watch the second half of ‘Roudram Ranam Rudhiram’ after getting goosebumps watching the interval bang. That’s what has happened to the audience at Cinemark North Hollywood during the ‘first day first show’ today.
The issue was highlighted, among others, by a film critic. “Saw the first half but not the second because the theatre had not ingested it. The manager said they didn’t receive instructions that there was more. Unbelievably frustrating,” wrote columnist and reviewer Anupama Chopra.
Raftar Creations and Sarigama Cinemas apologized to the frustrated audience members. Explaining the unusual situation that is not a first-time thing, Twitter user Vijay Venkataraman wrote, “Not uncommon with longer Indian films. Also, since theatres in the US don’t have intermissions when Indian films play in chains that don’t usually screen Indian films, the understanding of first and second half DCP split can’t be taken for granted.”
