It has been officially announced that Netflix holds the streaming rights of ‘Roudram Ranam Rudhiram’ for foreign languages versions. This is the first confirmation that the SS Rajamouli directorial will be released in multiple global languages.
The streaming giant holds the digital streaming rights of the Jr NTR-Ram Charan movie in English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish.
Besides, Netflix also owns the streaming rights of the Hindi version. All these are post-theatrical streaming rights, which it got from Pen Studios. Pen Studios had last month brought the rights from DVV Entertainment before selling them to others.
Recently, Pen Studios cracked a deal with Zee5 for the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of ‘RRR’. So, Zee5 will stream ‘RRR’ in south Indian languages, while it is Netflix for other languages.
While the above details are related to digital streaming rights, below is the list of satellite right holders:
Telugu: Star Maa
Tamil: Star Vijay
Malayalam: Asianet
Kannada: Star Suvarna
Hindi: Zee Cinema
‘RRR’ is believed to be doing a business worth of Rs 950 Cr before its release. A major chunk of this is going to come from theatrical release rights. The Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions are going to give it double what the Hindi theatrical rights will give it.
