‘Romanchakam’ Pre-Release: Vijay Deverakonda Recalls ‘Arjun Reddy’ Journey, Praises Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Vijay Deverakonda turned the Romanchakam pre-release event into an emotional moment as he opened up about his deep bond with filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga and the journey that began with their landmark film Arjun Reddy.

Speaking at the event as the chief guest, Vijay said his relationship with Sandeep goes far beyond the conventional definitions of a director-actor duo or even friendship.

“I cannot put my love for Sandeep into words. Our relationship is not just that of a director and hero, brothers or friends. It is something beyond all of that.”

‘Arjun Reddy’ changed everything

Vijay recalled the difficult phase when he and Sandeep Reddy Vanga were working on Arjun Reddy. At the time, neither of them had the kind of recognition or backing they enjoy today.

He described making the film as an almost war-like experience, recalling that they had no money, no name and no influence. Even Pelli Choopulu had not yet released, meaning there was no established audience or fan base supporting them.

Despite the uncertainty, the duo decided to take the risk.

Vijay said that the success of Arjun Reddy did not merely change his career. It also gave him a series of unforgettable experiences and strengthened his relationship with Sandeep.

‘I will go to any extent for Sandeep’

The actor became particularly emotional while recalling the support extended by Sandeep’s family during those early days.

Vijay revealed that when they had limited financial resources, Sandeep’s brother Pranay and his father sold their land and invested their family’s earnings into the film, because they believed in Vijay and Sandeep.

Remembering that support, Vijay said:

“I will go to any extent for Sandeep, and Sandeep will do the same for me.”

He further explained that their relationship has grown beyond professional boundaries through the years.

‘If there was no Arjun Reddy…’

Vijay also reflected on how much Arjun Reddy meant to his life.

He said that if the film had never happened, he would not only have missed its success but also the many experiences and beautiful moments he shared with Sandeep. The two also spoke about life on numerous occasions, strengthening their personal bond.

His comments offered a glimpse into just how significant Sandeep has been in Vijay’s personal and professional journey.

Vijay’s special connection with Sumanth Prabhas

Vijay did not limit his speech to Sandeep and the film’s journey. He also spoke warmly about Romanchakam hero Sumanth Prabhas.

According to Vijay, he could immediately see a dream for cinema in Sumanth’s eyes. He said that when he first saw the youngster, he felt Sumanth could eventually become either an actor or a director.

Vijay recalled supporting Sumanth’s earlier film Mem Famous by promoting it and said he would continue to support young talent whenever possible.

A special appearance driven by friendship

Vijay’s presence at the Romanchakam pre-release event was particularly meaningful because of his long-standing association with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and the Bhadrakali Pictures team.

He said that when Sandeep called him, there was no question of him staying away from the event.

“When Sandeep called me, if I did not come to this function, then what am I living for?”

The statement reflected the depth of the bond between the actor and filmmaker.

Vijay’s message to ‘Romanchakam’

Concluding his speech, Vijay wished Romanchakam and its young team a major success. He said he hoped the film would give a big break to Sumanth Prabhas, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Pranay Reddy Vanga and the entire new team.

He also highlighted that what ultimately matters is the happiness and enjoyment experienced while making a film.

Vijay’s final message was one of perseverance: success may not always arrive immediately, but if people believe in themselves and retain the hunger to succeed, it will eventually come.
