Actor Robert De Niro Issues Stark Warning About Trump’s Presidency on The View

Robert De Niro pulled no punches on The View on May 14.

As the conversation veered into political territory, the evergreen actor bared his confusion before his support for Donald Trump, who was mired in scandals and threats. The 80-year-old De Niro drew on historical figures such as Hitler and Mussolini to drive home the point.

“I don’t know why people are not taking him seriously,” De Niro said. “He’s done it already. And then what? We’re going to sit around and say, ‘I told you so?'” His honest comments drew applause from the audience.

De Niro described his supporters as filled with anger and hate. He reminisced about past fights with Trump, including with Rosie O’Donnell, and the divisiveness of the previous president.

Joy Behar, 82, cited Trump’s mockery of the handicapped, the military, and more. De Niro reinforced the comment by saying Trump is an apparent agent to be the enemy of the people. De Niro cautioned that Trump’s possible re-election would bring about civil strife and chaos. After all, Trump thrives where chaos reigns.

De Niro’s comments reflect the urgency in the political landscape as Trump battles the judiciary and prepares for the Republican nomination in the next election. And, as the interview concluded, De Niro’s impassioned remarks continued, shedding light on the divisiveness of the impact of Trump’s presidency and the stakes of the upcoming election.
