RGV wants to convert classic into a web series

Ram Gopal Varma has been in the news for the past few days. Last week, his movie ‘Maa Ishtam’/’Dangerous’ got postponed to a future date. This week, on April 14, his web series ‘Dahanam’ will stream on MX Player. 

Meanwhile, Varma has expressed an interesting wish. Speaking to Film Companion, he said that his gangster flick ‘Satya’ can be remade in the OTT era. 

“I don’t know if you can remake it for OTT but it could be converted into a web series. It would be one prime material for that because it is also very rich in characters and there can be so many subplots that head in different directions,” he told the portal.

‘Satya’ was released in theatres on 3 July 1998. After this masterpiece, many aspiring writers and directors were never the same. Their thinking changed forever.  At least, they aspired to change their thinking. Manoj Bajpai, JD Chakravarthy, Saurabh Shukla, Urmila Matondkar, Paresh Rawal and others were part of the cast. Music was by Vishal Bharadwaj and BGM was by Sandeep Chowta. Gerard Hooper, and Mazhar Kamran handled the camera.
