SV Mohan Reddy, the MLA of Kurnool, recently filed a police complaint against Ram Gopal Varma, accusing him of defaming Nara Chandrababu Naidu through a video related to ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’.
In this regard, RGV has issued a legal notice to the MLA, citing two grounds on which he is liable. ”Your complaint is malicious and motivated. To start with, there is no defamation of anyone in the said teaser. It is not mentioning anybody by name and only showing various people who were involved in the incidents at that period of time which is public knowledge for more than two decades. Secondly, being a member of the Legislative Assembly, you should be aware of the fact that defamation proceedings can be initiated only by the person who is said to have been defamed. In the instant case, according to you, it is Sri. N. Chandra Babu Naidu who is said to have been defamed,” the notice says.
“The lodging of a false complaint to the police itself is an offence under Section 182 of IPC. You have given this complaint only to harass and malign my client and cause injury and annoyance to him,” it further adds.
Mohan Reddy should apologize to RGV within 48 hours.
