Prime Minister Narendra Modi is involved in a large twitter campaign by tagging celebrities to urge their followers to exercise their votes without fail in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. His latest tweet was aimed at the cricketing fraternity “On the cricket field, Shikar Dhawan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin shine with their incredible talent and absolute commitment towards their team. I urge them to encourage greater voter awareness and voter participation. Young India will follow their lead.”
Ravichandran Ashwin has replied “Always thought voting is the fulcrum of our democracy and I definitely would like to urge the entire country, each and every one of you from every nook and corner of our country to vote and choose their rightful leader. The Kings XII Punjab captain has also posed a request to Modi “I would also like to request you sir to enable every cricketer playing in the IPL to be allowed to cast their votes from whichever place they find themselves at.”. It remains to be seen if the Election Commission allows the IPL players to vote from the cities they are playing in to enable them to exercise their votes.
