Rashmika Mandanna’s underwear Ad draws criticism

An underwear Ad featuring superstar actress Rashmika Mandanna and Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal was out earlier this week. The commercial has drawn flak from a section of Netizens.

In the Ad, we see the ‘Pushpa’ actress as a fitness trainer who makes her trainees stretch the body. The trainer starts counting 1,2 and 3 and when her eyes fall on the underwear that Vicky is wearing, she slows down. It’s because she doesn’t want to take her eyes off the underwear. Noticing this, Vicky chips in and she immediately regains balance with a smile on her face. 

Netizens are asking, “What if the genders were reversed here? Would it not be called creepy?” 

But those who are supporting the aesthetics of the Ad are of the view that Vicky is shown to be comfortable with Rashmika’s gaze. That explains why the male character is not upset or angry but only mildly puzzled. On the other hand, the female character is shown to be bowled over by the underwear and it is not the same as creeping out the male character, a Twitter user opined.
