Ramya Nambesan is one of the few actresses who has not only featured in a number of hit films but has mostly taken on only roles with substance. She has now made her debut as a director with the short ‘Unhide’ which has been released today.
‘Unhide’ poses the questions to men’s collective consciences as to when women will truly get to exercise their rights and when will it be learned to respect her as a person and not as a sexual object. In poignant shots the film probes the no win situation of the female gender because they are harassed and destroyed whether they are fully clothed or bare naked, whether they are a mere three year old or elderly. Ramya has also done the voiceover in near-perfect Tamil which compliments the shots and she even surprises by the end message that capital punishment cannot bring about a solution to crimes against women.
