The trailer of 'Disha Encounter', a film based on the Disha rape incident in Hyderabad, is out. Starring Sonia Akula, the founder of an NGO named Action Aid for Societal Advancement, the drama is being directed by Anand Chandra.

On 26 November 2019, a 26-year-old veterinary doctor named Priyanka Reddy was raped and burned alive in Shamshabad, near Hyderabad. Police records say that one of the four rapists deflated the tire of her scooty, and pretended to help her. The other three then joined him and dragged her into the nearby bushes, sexually assaulted and smothered her. The trailer narrates these incidents.

All four accused were killed in a police encounter on December 6 the same year.

Starring also Srikant Iyengar and Praveen Raj, the 'Disha Encounter' has music by DSR, while the cinematography is by Jagdeesh Cheekati and Kalyaan Sami. It is produced by Natti Kranthi and Natti Karuna.
