Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ Smashes Records, Surpasses Vijay’s Leo

Superstar Rajinikanth has once again proven his box-office supremacy. His latest outing Coolie has set a new benchmark in Tamil cinema by registering the biggest-ever opening day collection, overtaking Vijay’s Leo.

According to the producers, Coolie grossed a staggering ?151 crore worldwide on Day 1. In India alone, the film collected ?118 crore, while its global tally has already crossed the ?200 crore mark within a single day.

The film’s performance in the Telugu states has been particularly noteworthy. Despite being a dubbed release, Coolie managed to earn over ?15 crore on its opening day, aided by the Independence Day holiday, which gave the film a significant boost at the ticket counters.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action entertainer features Rajinikanth in the titular role, supported by Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir in prominent parts. Adding star power to the film are cameo appearances by Aamir Khan and Upendra, which further elevated audience excitement.

Trade analysts note that the unprecedented opening has set the stage for Coolie to continue its dominance through the long holiday weekend. With strong word of mouth and Rajinikanth’s enduring stardom, the film is expected to maintain its momentum at the global box office.
