Did Rajini meet young hit director during lockdown? – clarification on viral photo

Superstar Rajinikanth over the years has acted predominantly in mass masala entertainers but at the same time, his personal taste is meaningful cinema and watches them regularly.  Not stopping with that Rajini also makes sure that he personally calls any new director who has made good films and encourages them too.

Recently an audio clip of a call from Rajini to young director Desingh Periyasamy of ‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ fame went viral on the internet.  The Superstar is heard telling Desingh that he has a bright future.  

After that, a photo Desingh Periyasamy meeting Rajini started doing the rounds and reports said that he had gone to thank the legend in person. A controversy started that both were not wearing masks at the time of coronavirus.  The director has clarified that the snap was taken in 2018 and has put a full stop to any unnecessary debates.

‘Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ is one of the biggest hits of 2020 starring Dulquer Salman, Ritu Varma, Rakshan and Niranjana Ahathian as con artists with Gautham Menon playing a cop on an obsessive hunt for them.
