Rajini-Kamal-Lokesh Kanagaraj dream project status update

We broke the news to you first last year that Rajini and Kamal are joining hands for a dream project to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.  The dream project tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 169’ will be bankrolled by Raj Kamal Films International and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who is riding high with the success of ‘Kaithi’ and is in a sensational zone with the upcoming ‘Master’ starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi.

The official announcement of ‘Thalaivar 169’was planned in April this year and it was also planned to go on floors this August but the coronavirus pandemic spoiled the show.  Rumors started spreading that the mega project is dropped but sources close to the legendary actors have maintained that it is very much on.

Since both Rajini and Kamal considering their ages would be able to participate in film shootings only after the pandemic ends it has now been decided to push ‘Thalaivar 169’ to early 2021. That’s really super news for fans of both the icons of Tamil cinema.

 Meanwhile Lokesh Kanagaraj may complete ‘Kaithi 2’ starring Karthi and the same team as the original as a quickie since he has the script ready.

Rajinikanth has currently shot fifty percent of his next film ‘Annaathe’ directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sun Pictures.  Kamal is also halfway through with the shooting of ‘Indian 2’ directed by Shankar and is also planning to start ‘Thalaivan Irukkindran’ costarring Vijay Sethupathi with A.R. Rahman scoring the music.
