Aishwarya Rai joins the sets of Ponniyin Selvan

Team Ponniyin Selvan dropped the first look poster of this much-anticipated film and it was well-received by the audience. The shooting of this periodic drama resumed recently in Pondicherry. Karthi has already joined the sets and started shooting for this magnum opus.

The recent buzz about this film is that Aishwarya Rai who is roped in to play an unimportant role has arrived at the sets and resumed shooting for her portion.  Aishwarya Lekshmi also joined the team in Pondicherry. While Aishwarya Rai plays a dual role, Nandhini, and Mandakini Devi in the film, Aishwarya Lekshmi plays Poonguzhali, a bold woman in the film.

Director Mani Rathnam already reported that the film will be released in two arts and almost 75% of the film’s shooting is completed. The team is planing for a theatrical release in the following year. The film features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumama and several others.

The film is jointly produced by Manirathnam’s Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. A.R. Rahman is roped in to compose music and cinematography is handled by Ravivarman.
