Mani Ratnam is one of the legendary directors of Indian cinema. He achieved his dream project, 'Ponniyin Selvan', last year and the first part became one of the highest grossers in Tamil cinema. Meanwhile, the maker is all set to astound the audience again with the sequel to the epic film.
Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies have bankrolled the magnum opus adapted from renowned author Kalki's novel of the same name. Earlier this year, the makers officially announced that Ponniyin Selvan 2 will debut in cinemas across the globe on April 28. Meanwhile, rumours broke out today morning that PS-2 is going to be postponed indefinitely.
Now, the film's production side has clarified the release postponement reports. The team has cleared the air that there is no change in release plans and Ponniyin Selvan 2 will storm the silver screens worldwide on April 28 as announced earlier. Sources also tell us that a grand audio and trailer launch event for PS-2 will happen on March 29 in Chennai.
With music by AR Rahman, PS-2 stars Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Shobita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Ashwin and many others. The story revolves around the civil war inside the Chola dynasty for the throne and the conspiracy by Pandyas to avenge the Cholas, set around the 10th century.
