Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an important announcement today, and revealed that, India has become an elite space power. India joins the elite league which includes nations like United States, China and Russia as the fourth nation to achieve the distinction.
Modi expressed that it was a proud moment for the nation which can not just defend itself on land, water and air, but also in space, as India had hit a low earth orbit satellite space, with an anti satellite weapon A-SAT. This was called as Mission Shakti and was a difficult mission but was completed within three minutes of launch and the Prime Minister expressed pride over the great work of the Indian scientists. He said that India always wants peace and not war.
Prime Minister further detailed that, Mission Shakti will help in the advancement of India in terms of technology, safety, disaster management and economy, and will strengthen the overall security of the nation. This new elevation of India to an elite space is not against any nation, said Modi.
