James Bond Star Pierce Brosnan Pleads Not Guilty in Yellowstone Trespassing Case

Pierce Brosnan has entered a not guilty plea in the Yellowstone trespassing case, as confirmed by several media outlets. The James Bond actor faced legal trouble for entering a restricted thermal area within the national park. Brosnan’s lawyer submitted the plea on January 4, waiving appearance at the arraignment and requesting a trial setting, while the initially scheduled January 23 hearing was later vacated.

The actor’s citations, considered petty offenses, were issued on November 1 but officially filed in court on December 26. The charges include “foot travel in all thermal areas and w/in Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails” and “violating closures and use limits,” according to the U.S. District Court of Wyoming docket.

Despite the legal proceedings, Brosnan was recently seen for the first time since his plea, having lunch at a Malibu restaurant. The Yellowstone National Park rules emphasize the dangers of thermal areas, urging visitors to stay within designated walking areas due to the unpredictable nature of the terrain. The park features over 500 active geysers.

Yellowstone’s regulations prohibit activities such as swimming in thermal waters and altering thermal features. Brosnan could face fines and/or up to six months in jail, according to the Department of Justice. 

The incident highlights the hazards of Yellowstone’s thermal areas, with a recent case involving a Michigan man facing charges after sustaining thermal burns, resulting in a ban from the parks until the legal issues are resolved.
