Peddi Release In Spotlight After Telangana Exhibitors’ Latest Decision

A fresh controversy has emerged in the Telugu film industry following yesterday’s press meet conducted by the Telangana Exhibitors Association. The exhibitors once again pushed for the implementation of the percentage-sharing model instead of the existing rental system, stating that the current structure is severely affecting theatres, especially single screens.

During the interaction, exhibitors reportedly referred to films like Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and Pushpa 2: The Rule while explaining how producers are securing maximum returns under the rental model while theatres continue to struggle financially.

However, the biggest talking point from the press meet turned out to be a statement made by Shirish Reddy of Sri Venkateswara Creations. He revealed that exhibitors have collectively decided not to screen films with increased ticket prices, even if the government permits hikes through official GO approvals.

The statement has now created strong buzz across Tollywood circles, especially with Peddi preparing for release in less than a month. The Ram Charan-starrer is considered one of the biggest upcoming Telugu releases, and any restriction on ticket price hikes could significantly impact its theatrical revenue prospects.

Another interesting aspect is that the Nizam distribution rights of Peddi are being handled by Mythri Movie Makers, which has already reportedly voiced opposition to the exhibitors’ demand for a percentage-sharing system.

With tensions rising between exhibitors and producers over release economics, the industry is now closely watching how the issue will be resolved. Whether Peddi eventually releases with regular ticket pricing or a new agreement is reached before release remains to be seen.
