‘Peddi’ OTT Version Differs from Theatrical Cut; Netflix Streams Edited Scene

Audiences watching Ram Charan’s Peddi on Netflix are noticing a key difference from the version that played in theatres. The film’s OTT release features an edited sequence that was changed following criticism during its theatrical run.

The controversy centered around a scene in which Ram Charan’s character admires Janhvi Kapoor with the dialogue “Katuke Akkarleni Kallu.” While the dialogue praises her facial features, the theatrical version included shots focusing on her bosom and navel, drawing criticism from a section of viewers who felt the visuals were unnecessary.

After the film’s release, director Buchi Babu acknowledged the feedback and removed the controversial visuals from the movie.

The version now streaming on Netflix reflects those changes. Although the dialogue remains unchanged, the close-up shots that sparked the controversy have been omitted, resulting in a toned-down sequence.

The revised version has caught the attention of fans, who have been sharing comparisons between the theatrical and OTT cuts across social media platforms. The decision indicates that the makers chose to release the updated version digitally instead of the original theatrical print.

Produced on a grand scale and directed by Buchi Babu, Peddi enjoyed a successful theatrical run, collecting an estimated ₹340 crore worldwide before making its OTT debut on Netflix.
