Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has expressed his shock at the exorbitant rate of coffee/tea sold at Chennai Airport.
It turns out that the senior Congress leader wanted to have coffee at the ‘Coffee Day’ Restaurant at Chennai Airport but then changed his mind when he was told at the counter that one cup of coffee would cost Rs.135/-.
Recording his thoughts on his Twitter account, PC said that he wanted a cup of coffee at ‘Coffee Day’ and the server gave him a cup of hot water and tea bags and demanded Rs.135/- for the same. ”I was surprised and shocked at the cost of a cup of coffee; I didn’t want to go ahead with my purchase and returned the tea!” PC tweeted.
“I’m not sure whether what I did (returning the tea) was right or wrong; I couldn’t believe that people could afford to pay Rs.135 for a cup of coffee/tea. May be, I’m not updated on the issue,” he said.
