As warned earlier, a student union from Osmania University today mobbed Akkineni Nagarjuna’s residence in Hyderabad, protesting the ultra-popular reality show Bigg Boss. They proclaimed to do the agitation on two grounds: the sexual harassment allegations made by journalist Swetha Reddy and actress Gayatri Gupta, and the format of the show that is “not in sync with the Telangana culture”.
A student leader said that Nagarjuna should either give an explanation in the wake of the allegations or quit the show by Sunday. ”Why is Nagarjuna not responding to the serious allegations. He openly said in the past that Bigg Boss is a useless show. Such a person himself is the host today! Two women have laid casting couch allegations at the doorsteps of the show. We would have no objections if Nagarjuna comes out and says what he thinks about the allegations. But he is maintaining silence,” he said.
The student leader said that Bigg Boss has been promoted by investors from Andhra Pradesh. ”Since the creation of Telangana, no other show has been so against the local culture. Bigg Boss may be a famous show in other States but it’s up against the Telangana culture,” he added.
