The 97th Academy Awards (Oscars) ceremony was initially scheduled to take place on March 2nd in Los Angeles, California. However, the recent devastating wildfires in California have severely impacted the Los Angeles area, with numerous homes and luxury hotels destroyed. This has raised concerns about whether the Oscars will proceed as planned, with speculation about a possible postponement.
According to the American media outlet “The Sun,” for the first time in the 96-year history of the Oscars, organizers are reportedly considering canceling this year’s event due to the ongoing crisis. A team, including prominent members such as Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg, is closely monitoring the situation.
In contrast, a report by “Hollywood Reporter” has dismissed these claims, stating that no decision has been made to cancel or postpone the event. Senior members of the Oscars Academy have confirmed that the event will proceed on the scheduled date. However, the Oscars Committee has yet to release an official statement regarding this matter.
The wildfires in Los Angeles have resulted in 25 fatalities, with 13 people reported missing. Most victims were affected by the Eaton wildfire in the northern part of the city, which has burned over 14,000 acres. Firefighters have managed to contain 35% of the blaze, but the situation remains critical.
