Bengaluru: Superstar Kichcha Sudeep’s much-awaited period-action spectacle ‘Billa Ranga Baasha: First Blood’ is taking an unconventional route towards its theatrical release. While the film is still more than a year away from hitting the screens, the makers have already unveiled an elaborate promotional calendar that will begin in September 2026 and continue until its release in the final quarter of 2027.
Directed by Anup Bhandari, the high-budget Pan-India project is produced by K Niranjan Reddy and Chaitanya Reddy under the PrimeShow Entertainment banner.
The promotional campaign for ‘Billa Ranga Baasha’ will officially begin on September 2, 2026, coinciding with Sudeep’s birthday. The makers are set to unveil a special poster on the occasion.
The latest announcement poster has already created curiosity with its striking visual featuring icy landscapes and towering frozen formations, offering another glimpse into the ambitious world being created for the film.
Rather than following the usual promotional pattern of releasing all major promotional material shortly before the theatrical release, the makers have planned a long-term campaign.
According to the announced schedule:
The carefully planned promotional calendar is expected to keep the film in the spotlight for an extended period while gradually revealing more details about its world, characters and story.
‘Billa Ranga Baasha’ marks the reunion of Sudeep and director Anup Bhandari after their collaboration on the 2022 action-adventure film ‘Vikrant Rona’.
The director is once again attempting to create an expansive cinematic universe, with Sudeep leading the period-action adventure in a larger-than-life role. The film’s first glimpse had already generated considerable curiosity by offering a look at its grand scale and distinctive visual world.
With a high budget, an ambitious period setting and a Pan-India release strategy, the project is being positioned as one of the major upcoming films from Kannada cinema.
‘Billa Ranga Baasha: First Blood’ will be released across India in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
With promotions beginning as early as September 2026 and the theatrical release planned for the last quarter of 2027, the makers are clearly opting for a slow-burn promotional strategy designed to build anticipation over a much longer period.
The next major update to watch out for is the special poster on Sudeep’s birthday, which is expected to offer another glimpse into the ambitious world of ‘Billa Ranga Baasha’.
