The online concert “One World: Together at Home”, organized by pop star Lady Gaga the other day, has raised close to $128 million (approximately Rs 979 Cr). The virtual concert, which was telecast on several TV channels in the US last Saturday, saw performances by numerous big names from the music and entertainment world.
Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were a part of the event that also had performances by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lizzo, and Taylor Swift.
Though the program was not planned as a fundraiser, the show has garnered huge donations from Americans. Viewed by 21 million people, it began with a performance of Charlie Chaplin’s Smile and ended with an all-star rendition of The Prayer featuring Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.
The funds raised will be spent on Coronavirus relief by the World Health Organization.
