‘NTR: Kathanayakudu’ shows Nadendla Bhaskara Rao as telling NT Rama Rao that Congress changes CMs too frequently. That’s during the oath-taking event of new CM Bhavanam Venkatram Reddy. NTR nods his head and keeps quiet.
Soon after the release of the biopic, Nadendla has come out in the open to deny that the conversation even happened between him and NTR. “I didn’t even attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bhavanam Venkatram. I never knew Rama Rao personally back then. It’s wrong to show as if I attended the ceremony. I was the convenor before Rama Rao launched the party. One day, he came to my residence from Madras.
He didn’t announce the name of his future political party amidst people at MLA quarters as shown in the biopic. There were 6-7 names under consideration. When Rama Rao told me that the name should be ‘Telugu Desam’, I told him the press people might ridicule it. I told him the media might find it odd that there is the word ‘Desam’ in the name of a party,” Nadendla says.
In the event, the name TDP became a household name. Nobody finds the name silly.
