The #metoo moment in Hollywood where several actresses alleged producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment over the years, has landed him in big trouble to the extent of being in the danger of a life sentence in prison. The moment has caught on in Indian cinema too as more and more actresses are pointing fingers at sexual exploitation like Sri Reddy in Tollywood for example.
Nisha Sarang the popular actress of the Malayalam serial 'Uppum Mulakum' (Salt and Chilly) has accused director Unnikrishnan of sexual harassment for the past two years. She has demanded his removal from the director's chair and has refused to continue her popular role Padavalam Veetil Neelima.
According to Nisha, Unnikrishnan tried to exploit her sexually and since she refused he started behaving in a odd way passing sexist remarks at her and also being very rude on the sets. The actress has added that only due to the impending marriage of her daughter she tolerated the nonsense but now has decided to take action but Unni Krishnan has allegedly fired her from the serial.
Flowers TV which airs 'Uppum Mulakum' has denied Nisha Sarang being removed from the serial that has crossed 650 episodes and has also promised that necessary action will be taken on the issue.
